Why don’t I get points for chatting?

Q: I don't write much in the forum, but I am in the chat room daily. Is there any way we can get points for conversing in the chat room instead of just the forum?

A: This web site was created primarily to be a discussion forum. Posts in the Forum are interesting and informative reading for others. So it's more than logical to award points for them.

Chat - it happens now - few moments later it's gone – tomorrow no one can go to read it. What's the logic to award points from chat lines? Also there is NO way to check afterwards what that member wrote to gain those points.
