I took a class and became certified as a colon hydrotherapist many years ago. One of the things I had learned in the class was that the capacity of the large intestine is about two quarts.
Any more than that, and you are taking water up into the small intestine, which we were told wasn't the best idea. In fact, we were taught a maneuver to close the ileocecal valve just for the purpose of preventing water from going up into the small intestine. One of the side effects 'that I remember' was a feeling of nausea associated with water getting into the small intestine.
I would have to 'hit the old books', and classroom material to read up on it again, but for those that can take 4 quarts without any side effects, more power to you! I've long heard about taking 4 quarts, and in fact witnessed a demonstration of that, but I can't see me even attempting that much!
I find a couple 2 quart enemas plenty to clean out the large intestine, which is my end goal, as I do enjoy anal play, and want to be cleaned out for that.
I have found that once I get a good cleaning out, I usually stay 'clean' for about 12 hours. Although I have recently been finding that the process is taking me longer and longer to complete. Not so much taking the water in, but it's sure seems like it's taking a long time to come out!
Almost seems like there are pockets of water that stay in me, sometimes I can feel it, sometimes I don't. Needless to say, sometimes I get that false sense of security of being totally cleaned out, then maybe an hour or two later, (sometimes even longer), I'm making a 'dash' for a bathroom!
Not a good thing when thinking you're totally cleaned out, and are later engaged in some 'other' anal activities!
If anyone else has experienced this, has had it happened to them, and have come up with any remedies to this, I would certainly appreciate contacting me by e-mail. I don't visit the forums very often... In fact a total newbie here! By the way, I'm 54 years old now.
