My experiences aren't a whole lot different than those of this age group. As a young child in the late 40's, we (me & my sister, who was 2 years older than me) received enemas not on a regular basis, but primarily whenever we had been sick with the flu, or whatever crud we had for more than just a couple days. It wasn't that we were constipated..........our folks just thought that a good enema would help us get over our illness more quickly.........so we received a series of nice warm ivory soap enemas until we were thoroughly cleaned out.
Did they help? I don't know.....but they never hurt. Since my mom was always very gentle giving me an enema, I never developed negative thoughts about them, and was more than eager to try them myself in private, starting in my early teen years. Been enjoying them ever since.
