I think that this confusion arose because Okthen's gender is defined as Male when in fact she is plainly a Female who views herself as Male. This is made reasonably clear in OKthen's Profile and in her Posts.
Here on Zity it is my belief that a statement about one's gender is the gender that you were at birth, i.e. your sex chromosome make up, and that cannot be easily changed, if at all. I think that our attitude about those who take steps to modify (particularly) their genitals, breasts etc for their own good reasons is somewhat ill defined. We take care of that by asking members to make things clear in their Profile introduction, and in their posts, about how they view themselves.
OKthen does this fairly well in her profile and posts and everyone, Ariane included, should form the habit of making sure of things before commenting, especially in a derogatory fashion.
That being said, Okthen's error was in the gender designation she chose and she should consider changing it, as well as explaining just a little more clearly, how she viewed herself and how she/he wanted to be addressed.
If you do a Forum posts Search on the word 'Gender' (without the quotes), and with the author as Switchablesusie, you'll get 3 pages of her contributions on the subject.
