"Does (castor oil) cause cramping? "
One's milage may differ, but, in my experience, it does not, unless one is constipated or has a *very* large stool to expel, until it gets to the sigmoid flexure, and then it does, followed seconds later by a strong rectal urge.
My spouse used to like to make me have tummy aches. One way that she would do it, is to give me a large dose of fiber, e.g. two Tablespoons of concentrated (teaspoon dosage) fiber-style laxative, wait six hours, give me an anti-diarrheal pill, wait 24 hrs, and then give me a tablespoon or more of castor oil. That can be quite an experience, especially the anticipation (dread) of what it is that I'm being prepped for!
Sometimes she'd use three or four bisacodyl tablets instead.
