When I was very young, less than 11-12, many doctors visits were conducted nude, which I thought was the normal manner and so thought very little of.
In middle school in Belgium, we had one school medical exam when the doctor checked our genitals, for development and growth.
Afterwards at my first employment physical I was required to strip completely by the company physician. He was an older man, more bored by having little to do all day than anything else. I certainly don't think he was out to give me a thorough physical for any specific reason.
Later, when older still, my oncologist, a very lovely and competent lady of my own age, would also perform routine check-ups with me unclothed on the exam table. She would carefully and diligently probe my body, most likely looking for swollen lymph nodes. When coming to the groin, she would have me lift my hips and remove my underpants so she could continue. Once, and this was back in the early 80's, I had forgotten about my check-up and came to her office freshly shaven from just a few days prior. This was at a time when genital shaving was still not widely done.
When she removed my slip, her eyes widened in a look of puzzlement. At first she didn't know what to think of this, then she gave me a really good look eye to eye.
Afterwards I wonder if she might have thought that the lack of pubic hair was due to a oncological related factor, namely a recurrence of some kind.
