I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have never heard of routine testing of sexual function and I can't imagine such a thing would even be on the table, so to speak, unless you reported a particular issue of concern. As far as difference in the methods, if you don't have an intact hymen, the procedures should be the standard including the speculum and a digital exam. Even with a hymen present, they make virginal sized specula in order to provide a thorough exam without pain or difficulty. Just be sure to tell the doctor that you are a virgin so he is aware ahead of time that you will not only be nervous, but that he should use a smaller size speculum for the examination.
