Female pediatrician from birth through 11yo physical, every single time I went to her, for any reason, her nurse would have me remove my shirt and shoes before weighing me and having me wait for her on the table. The doctor would have me lie down and then she would unbuckle my belt, then unfasten and unzip my jeans/ shorts before proceeding with the abdominal exam. At the end, should would use one hand to raise the waistband of my briefs and use her other hand to feel lower on my abdomen and upper groin inside my briefs. Her exams always ended with my pants and underwear disheveled and lowered a bit. The only exception to this was the one time she gave me a sports physical for school. Everything was same except the nurse had me take off everything but my underwear. At the end of the abdominal exam when she raised my waistband, her other hand continued past my upper groin and she felt and palpated down both sides of my leg/ groin along my scrotum. Then she grasped my underwear with both hands and pulled them out and down to my upper thighs. She looked at my genitals for 10-15 seconds, then put them back in place. She never said a word the whole time.
I've had two different male dermatologists in the past that had me in only underwear that pulled them up/ down to view my genitals or butt while I was on my back or stomach on the table. My current dermatologist and his assistant raise, lower, lift, move, fold, etc my gown a dozen different ways to view and give themselves access to my body during my exam while I sit or lie on the table. Near the end, when they have me sit up, the assistant will usually tie my gown at the neck before the doctor tells me to stand up. My first exam at my current derm, after standing, the nurse stood slightly off to my side in front of me, grabs hold of my gown on both sides, and lifts it way up. It was raised up to about her shoulder height. So while the gown blocked her view of my genitals, I was on complete display for the doctor. The only things covered by the gown at that point were my shoulders and upper arms.
Female NP giving me a pre-employment physical had me in a gown with underwear. She asked permission then untied and lowered the gown to my lap as I sat on the table. After the abdominal exam, when I sat back up, she re-tied it at the back of my neck. Later, for the hernia exam, she instructed me to lower my underwear as she raised my gown up and over to the side to access my genitals.
My current male GP once unbuttoned and unzipped my jeans then lifted my underwear just enough to peek and get his fingers inside a bit. This was just a year or two ago. I loved that as it reminded me of my exams I got from my pediatrician as a kid.
I've had a few doctors pull my pants or underwear down or up a little to get their fingers just inside or to have a look. I've had numerous, too many to count, times that a doctor, nurse, or assistant lift or shift my shirt in front or back to allow them access to my body, for whatever reason. Same with gowns, those are constantly be shifted, moved, raised, as needed. The few times I've had a lap drape, those have always been manipulated by the doctor or nurse, and never without asking permission or a warning. They just do what they need to with them. This is all especially true in a hospital. The doctor, nurse, or assistant just removes/ moves my clothes, gown, or sheets as needed, and never without permission or warning. It gets to the point that you just expect it when they approach you in bed.
