I'm aware that the US has a 'user pay' system DrJ58 - However, mannycodielle doesn't give his country of residence and he could well be my next door neighbour! In that case in the UK, and in a number of other countries, treatment is free, theoretically, at the point of need. But we pay for it in our taxes whether we have medical need or not. At 73 years of age I still pay taxes on my State Retirement Pension- something else that I contributed to for over 50 years of work!
Our UK National Health Service is already overloaded with drunks and druggies, not to mention non contributing immigrants. We certainly don't need fantasy patients clogging the medical services.
So good luck to US residents but if your medical insurer gets to know you are having false symptoms investigated they won't I guess be too pleased - and don't forget that such things make YOUR'S and all others Medical Insurance premiums higher, or in the UK and elswhere, our taxes.
mannycodielle wasn't asking either for a routine prostate check - at 30 years of age it would hardly be necessary without actual symptoms. No, he wanted his female doctor to feel his asshole!
Not having a firm diagnosis won't impact on things like Life Insurance (and the other things I mention)! Really? - It would in the UK - as many UK people who suffer calamities in your country have found out to their cost! And I hazard that a US Insurer too would have some room to wriggle out of paying out. Failure to declare ANY reported medical condition, diagnosed or not, will invalidate an Insurance Contract. An Insurer will ask for your medical records.
I'm not hitting at you or anyone else in particular DrJ58 - Just raising some issues to consider!
