The various hood piercings are easy to do, but very much anatomy dependent. Pain level is low as not much tissue is being pierced. Healing is quite quick; superficially healed for most women in about two weeks, fully healed in about three months. These piercings should be done at 14 gauge or larger to avoid the dreaded "cheese cutter effect". ONLY PIERCERS WITH A LOT OF EXPERIENCE WITH FEMALE GENITAL PIERCINGS SHOULD BE PERMITTED TO DO THESE PIERCINGS.
I have done three piercings of a clitoris, proper. A minimum width, in the area to be pierced is 5 mm. 8 mm. is much more preferable as this allows a piercing to be of a more reasonable gauge. Only about one in 10,000 women is a candidate for a clit piercing. If the clitoris is between 5 and 8 mm. wide, a 16 gauge piercing can be done, but this will be fraught with danger of tearing out. Once fully healed, it can be enlarged to 14 gauge. If ones clit is wider than 8 mm., the piercing can be done at 14 gauge. Pain level is high during the process, but it is a quick piercing, so it is well tolerated. Superficial healing will take about three months with complete healing requiring a year.
