We have a chain of agricultural supply stores called Tractor Supply. You can purchase veterinary thermometers for a reasonable price. They are nice and thick and will no doubt surprises your patient when inserted without prior viewing.

I had mine taken by my mother as punishment on occasion when i was a teenager for faking sick. She also give me sever spanking was not able to sit down for two days.

I don't know if you would consider this punishment, but when I was eight my mother was taking my temperature orally (with a glass thermometer). I coughed and it flew out of my mouth hit the floor and broke.

My mother yelled at me then left. When she came back she had the rectal thermometer and a jar of vaseline. I cried when I saw it and begged her not to take my temperature in my hiney. She just replied that if I hadn't coughed the oral one out she wouldn't have to use the rectal one on me. She open up the jar end lubed it up, but I still hadn't moved. I laid there sobbing gently as the thermometer protruded from my bottom. I don't know if my mother's intention was to punish me, but it certainly felt like I was being punished.

I think rectal temps and suppositories are a good punishment, though I think the suppositories should be inserted before the temp.

I got rectal temps quite a bit in childhood and teens... and even now, as a young adult, by my mum and dad sometimes, and by my older brother whose extremely strict about my health as I am quite lax about it. Sometimes, I also get it as punishment which is always, always followed by suppositories, just to keep me in check. My sister-in-law too quickly learned the ways of our house-hold and sometimes if she and me have any sort of disagreement or sometimes, plainly to scare me, she threatens to tell my brother or parents about some made-up misdeed of mine. Thanks to some of my bad behaviour in the past, they always believe her and I end up with the thermometer in my anus, whether I like it or not. The whole thing leaves a very smug expression on my sister-in-law's face which I hate. She knows she has control over me, in this respect. I also hate it and feel highly embarrassed when she helps with my rectal temps and suppositories and watches over my bare bum.

I must agree that an rt as punishment can be very exciting, especially when combined with spankings and other anal play...

I have also used an rt as a comparison... before and after a spanking. If my patient has been resistant to having their temperature taken rectally, then I will insert a butt plug for the spanking as a reminder that they mustn't be difficult when it's time to have their temperature taken.
