While I'm not a doctor, I am an American, and can definitely see the need for you to get periodic, if not frequent rectal examinations...
Well I would not mind if my check up included a rectal as well. But @Agasmic I think maybe there are reasons why women who are not as young have rectals and not younger ones. I think maybe there are reasons too when women have had kids but I have none. Girls and women do not go to gynecologists in Britain anyway unless they have got symptoms of something wrong.
I have only gone private and had 2 gynecology check ups because my mum has a bit of a history of problems and it is not because I have had any symptoms. But my gynecologist when he examined me, told me everything was very good. He gives me a bimanual and a transvaginal ultrasound so he can just see what I am like inside as well. He asked me if I had any problems and I could just say everything was good. So he just told me when I feel ok and I have got no symptoms, rectal exams are not needed really until I am over 40.
What I had was called the check up for women who are aged 18 to 30 but I think now it is the same check up for 18 to 40.
He gives my mum rectals but she was 49 and 50 when she had her check ups with him.
