Does Anyone Else Find This Creepy?

Over the years, even before discovering this site, I've watched a great many medical training videos that use a dummy, rather than a real live person, for the genital and rectal exam / care / procedures portion of the video. I don't know about y'all, but those dummies give me the creeps. Practicing a testicular or cervical exam on a cold, lifeless hunk of rubber and plastic while those dead, empty, unseeing eyes stare back at you from the hospital bed. Ka-reee-py!

I know those dummies might be more convenient for the school and for the students. The females don't get wet or bleed, the males don't get erections, you can't hurt or injure them, they don't get cramps or fatigue, they don't get tired or hungry, and you don't have to pay them. Even so- there's something rather weird and unsettling about them.

Dummies are always creepy - never mind the situation. They're probably very good for teaching though perhaps not for bedside manner.
