So this is kind of a summary of what happened during my visit. I was feeling really sick to my stomach one day, like to the point to where I couldn't keep down any food. After rolling around in my bed for a few hours in the morning I decided to go to the clinic and see if I could get some medicine for my stomach. I put on a blue sleeveless crop top that cut off a couple of inches above my navel, a pair of blue jeans and a pair of brown boots.
I drove to my closest minute clinic and signed in at the kiosk. It told me that I had a decent wait so I took a seat at one of the chairs outside of the exam room. I spent most of my time playing on my phone and occasionally rubbing my stomach when I felt a hunger pain or nausea set in.
After a while I heard the door open and an older man walked out of the room, and then the door shut. I heard cabinets opening and shutting, and paper being rustled inside of the office, and next thing I knew the door opened up and I heard my name called. I looked over to the office and saw a blonde woman, who looked like she was in around her late thirties to early forties, in a white coat. I got up and walked into the exam room.
"Take a seat," she said as she pointed at a plastic chair in the corner of the room next to her office desk. The room looked like a regular doctors office, but it just had the doctor's desk in the room you being examined in. I sat down and she asked for my driver's license and my insurance card. After she put my info into her computer she faced me and asked, "So, what can I do for you today?"
I told her about all of my symptoms and she asked me a few follow up questions like, "how long has this been going on?" and "what kind of pain is it?" I told her it was a dull nauseous pain, and then she asked me where it hurt mostly, and I pointed at my upper stomach. She nodded and continued to type into her computer.
She then took my vitals and then asked me to move to the exam table and she would check me out. I saw her place her stethoscope earpieces into her ears and I could feel my heartbeat start to race. She places her stethoscope against my chest and asked me to take a few deep breaths as she listened to several spots across my chest and back. Then she placed her stethoscope back on my chest and told me to breath normally. She listened to each spot of my heart for a good 30 seconds each. The silence grew louder with every second. She then asked me to lie down and she would take a look at my belly.
I laid back on the table and placed my hands under my head, and my shirt rose a little higher. She said, "So, normally I would lift your shirt up a little so I could see your abdomen, but you already dressed prepared for an abdominal exam today," We both had a light chuckle. She then listened to my belly in each quadrant for a good while. When she moved on to the second quadrant she asked me, "Have you eaten yet today?" I told her no and she smiled. "That's probably why. It's really quiet in there." After that she pressed her hands into my stomach, feeling around for anything out of place and asking me if anything hurt. She asked me to take a deep breath and she felt for my liver. I told her nothing hurt and then she told me I could sit up.
She diagnosed me with the stomach flu and prescribed me some medicine to help me keep down food. All and all not the worst day ever.
