Does it matter? Not any more, not in this day and age. In fact, the words "gay", "straight", and "bisexual" are words soon to disappear from our vocabulary, replaced by more modern words such as "gender specific". With most states now allowing "same sex" (new words) marriages, it doesn't really matter any more what people's preferences are. 30 years ago if you were "gay" you were the scorn of society; now nobody even bats an eye.
I met a guy who told me he was "85% hetero and 15% gay". Wha...??? Now you want to put a percentage on it?? No such thing!
Some guys like anal play with other guys but prefer marriage and "normal" sex (another obsolete word out the window) with a female. Today, more and more people "mix and match" their sexual preferences and desires, some things with same sex, some things with opposite sex, some things with both sex at the same time. The new rule is: If it makes you feel good, go for it...and stop labeling it gay, straight or whatever! Let's do away with the labels; they don't apply any more.
My two cents...

Let's go point by point:
YES, it does matter. Gay, straight and bisexual are NOT going to be replaced by the politically correct snowflake social justice warrior terms like "gender specific." "He" and "she" are NOT going to be replaced by a so-called "singular gender neutral," "they." THEY is plural.
You don't like gay? Why don't we use what genuinely IS the correct term: HOMOSEXUAL.
"Same sex" is NOT a new word, it is simply a description of two people of the same sex getting married. Nothing new there.
Putting a percentage on the HOMO-HETERO continuum is perfectly OK. I am 98% HETERO and 2% HOMO. (You want me to say 98% of my sex is heterosexual and 2% is homosexual--FINE WITH ME!) You see, even "straight" is a politically correct term. They created the politcally correct, less sexual sounding "gay"and "lesbian" from homosexual so they needed something non-sexual sounding for heterosexual, so they created "straight." I classify myself as heteroflexible, which means basically HETERO, but will on rare occasion engage in HOMO if there is a wonderful opportunity with a spectacular woman who turns me on. If you want to call me BISEXUAL, that perfectly OK with me. I know what I am and I am not afraid to call a spade a spade. (Sorry if you think that's a black slur--IT ISN'T.)
.
if it makes you feel good, do it but don't label it?
That's NOT going to happen. People LOVE labels. It keeps all the ducks in a row and everything neatly pigeon-holed.
.
Regardless of the body openings and appendages you play with, if you play with them by yourself, there is no connection with being homo or hetero. That's masturbatory play. If you play with another person of your same sex, you are HOMO. If you play with them with members of your opposite sex, you are HETERO. If you play with both sexes, you're BI. It's really quite simple.
.
The first horribly homophobic word to get rid of is 'pegging'.
There is NOTHING wrong with the term "pegging."
.
You can't admit your getting fucked?
EXACTLY, pegging means you are getting fucked IN THE ASS.
People should be able to admit that to themselves.
The truth can be hard.
Go ahead. Sock it to me. I know what I am, I know where I stand.
