As I promised I'm following up now with the detailed description of my full body skin examination with my new dermatologist. But first a PSA regarding skin cancer. I should not have waited so long to have a full body skin check even though my exam turned out without any bad surprises.
I arrived at the doctors office and was eventually called back to the room by the medical assistant. She took a history based on the forms I had filled out and then explained that for males she always offers a gown to be worn with underpants but the gown is optional since the doctor takes it off right away anyway, so she explained that I don't have to bother if I don't want. She was fine with it either way but I liked that it was addressed very matter of fact and I thought that was a very practical way of handling a topic discussed at length on this site. I told her I did not need a gown.
The medical assistant left the room and explained that I should get undressed and the doctor would be in shortly. I chose to wait only in underpants and for those interested I was wearing tight jockey black briefs with the grey jockey lettering around the band.
After only about 5 to 10 minutes the doctor returned with the medical assistant and I was sitting on a medical exam chair (with crinkly paper on it) which could be converted into an exam table when needed. The doctor, sat on a stool introduce herself, made small talk, reviewed my history and asked if I had any specific concerns. She was personable and very pleasant. It was interesting to meet a new doctor while I was only wearing briefs and having a conversation like it was perfectly normal. She was wearing a doctors coat and NO gloves-for the whole exam.
She then began the exam while I was seated by looking through my hair and then around my face and then towards my shoulders. At times asking the assistant to take pictures of various imperfections to be compared at later visits. She then laid the chair out like a table so it's flat on my back and begin looking at my face neck chest and abdomen. She also turned on a bright surgery type light hanging from the ceiling to use while examining me. Laying completely flat with my head a little lower than my body I felt very exposed in just my black briefs (in a good way 😃. She had asked earlier if I had any concerns in my genital region and I said that I did have something on my scrotum. But she continued down on my legs to my feet, all the while she sliding her hands along the skin, and she even said "I like to put my hands on my patient so I could feel for anything out of the ordinary."
When she was done examining my legs and feet she slid her hands up my legs and put her hands through the sides of my briefs to move the cloth out of the way so she could see what was under the briefs in the area of my hips. At that point she said "Since you had concerns on your scrotum I'll just help myself; is that okay" and pulled my underwear elastic band down abruptly (wow, I thought I was going to be asked to help by lowering my briefs). She then held the briefs with one hand and put her other hand between my legs and pulled up my scrotum so she could see it. While holding my underwear band down below my scrotum she also briefly touched my penis and pubes, but only briefly. She then had me roll over onto my stomach and examine my back and down my legs unabashedly pulling my underwear down when she wanted to so she could check my buttocks. She spread my buttocks briefly to look between the crack as well. She was again sliding her hands up and down my body and seemed very comfortable with contact with her patients. She then said everything looks good and discussed the details of things that should be addressed and asked me to schedule follow up appointments for those things as well as next years full body exam.
All in all a good full body exam, although it would be nice to be naked the whole time even with a gown, this doctor didn't work that way but was not shy about private areas like some doctors are. I think if next year when she asks if I have specific concerns in the genital areas, I respond with "Not really but I would like a full exam just in case" she would probably be fine with it.
One afterthought. Erections and pre-cum are topics discussed often so let me add my experience. I did not have any kind of erection even though for days before the exam every time I thought about it I got a partial erection. I think the nervousness just makes me shrivel to a very small size (hey it's the truth) However, for some reason being almost naked in a doctors office setting makes be start to leak lots of pre-cum, so before the doctor walked in I kept wiping it off to keep from having a wet spot on my underwear. Now that the exam was over when I looked inside my briefs there was a huge wet spot on the inside, now I was wondering how much of that was there when the doctor helped herself to lowering my briefs- a little embarrassing when I think about it....but I'm sure she has seen it all before.
