Hello . when was ur first pap smear test. how u felt the sensations at cervix with speculum pressure in vagina

I had my first pap done when I was 14. It was very painful, I was scared, and the doctor who did it wasn't the most gentle or caring.

My first one was when I was 25. The practice nurse was a bit rough with me when she put the speculum in. Yeah I felt pressure of being held open and a dull feeling when my cervix was touched but it was not too bad. My second one in May was the same really and it was another practice nurse who was a bit rough with me. I bet they were just thinking about getting it done quick and efficient but not caring about comfort. I did not like it really.

I had another one in September when I had my first check up with my private gynecologist. He was a lot better and more gentle at putting the speculum in and I just felt the dull poking of my cervix but that was ok. I think he is a lot more caring about the patient than the practice nurses and I will be going back to see him for other check ups.

I was 15 I had lost my virginity and went to the health department for birth control and got a complete well woman exam that included a Pap smear. For me that is exam is what triggered my medical fetish

I was 16 I believe. The speculum was cold when it was inserted and I felt pressure when it was opened. The swab just felt like a dull cramp. The worst part was still feeling open even after the speculum was removed.

I have found that on the whole, male doctors are more gentle than female ones. I read an article where a male gyn said it's because men, not having the same parts, are afraid of hurting us and tend to be extra cautious.

Having said that, my first PAP was with a female doctor when I was in my early 20's. I was in no rush to get one, but she nailed me one day when I was there for a routine b/p check (I've had hypertension since around that time, generously passed down to me from my bio mother). It was ok. She didn't have stirrups, just had me take my panties off (I was wearing a skirt) and do the frog leg thing on the table.

That makes a lot of sense.

My OBGYNs have all been male and by "all" I mean all TWO of them. The first one was my mother's OBGYN when I was a teenager and the second/present one I have been seeing since he was a resident and I was in my masters program.

I've had 3 and they have all been male, too. All were gentle with the exam. I've had women GP's that were not so gentle. I remember one just about chewing me out because I yelped when she put a cold steel speculum in me - it was reflex action on my part. My first gyn warmed it up first. Never had a female do that.

Jesus christ paps hurt. I hate going for them. i hate endometrial biopsies and iud insertions even more.

I have never had a PAP hurt. I've had an IUD and living with it in me was worse than the insertion, hated the thing. I've heard that endometrial biopsy is painful for some and not so for others. I guess everyone is different. Very surprised that you find PAPs hurt, though.

Seems to me the plastic brush with the wicked bristles would be most painful. I've seen videos of Pap smears using those and they almost always induce some spotting.

OTOH, the wooden spatula and cotton swab seem much more civiilized.

When I had my colposcopy and watched it on CCTV, he used a wooden spatula. I just assumed they all did. I can imagine bristles hurting. Any doc who did that to me would likely get a kick in the family jewels.

I believe the cyto brush is the most common in most US gyn clinics these days.

I was 17. Nothing hurt I was pretty much prepared for it. Except my sister left out the rectal part when she was telling me what all would happen. I was comfortable because it was the same doctor I had always gone to.

I have mixed feelings about it. I feel embarrassed and yet aroused. Part of me hates it yet another part hopes a male doctor would walk in mid examination. To talk to the nurse, both completly ignoring the fact I am laying there with my lags open and a cold metal thing sticking out from my pussy lips

My gf's first pap smear was when she was 16 because she wanted to get on the pill so she went for her first gyno appt when she was 16
