Susie,
It wasn't your post I was trying to address, but the original idea that douching being harmful is false.
For what it's worth, I believe, as we say in the biz, that you know your stuff.
My points are:
1. Scientific studies have shown HABITUAL douching to be coorealated with an increased risk of BV, PID and cervical cancer.
2. Ness's conclusion was that women should be educated about this risk.
3. The flora of the colon and the vagina are completely different animals, so to speak.
4. Too many companies, in my opinion, have exploited women's insecurites about their bodies for too long, and would choose to keep us in ignorance in order to get our dollars.
The last point is an opinion, the first three aren't.
As I said in my original post, I love the occasional douche myself.
I didn't mean to imply, Susie, that you were in any way ignorant of these things.
