I've been a member (yay, just past my 2 year Zity anniversary!) for 2 years here now. I did a search but can't find what need here, so if the excellent mods want to move or modify this, please do.
Tomorrow I'm going to see my friend the surgeon to consult for some type of rectal/repair/hemorrhoid operation, probably going to been done in in a month, after his Christmas vacation.
I'm a doctor also, and thus have the medical knowledge for this, but want to hear your personal opinions about your experience with this operation. What happened to you before, during (GA, Spinal, epidural andor local/sedation) and after the procedure? I'm especially concerned about postoperative pain in that particular anatomical area. My double hernia repair under spinal with sedation done about ten years ago by a friend was perfect, with no intraop and minimal postoperative pain. I'm more concerned about pain this time.
Did the surgeon ask for postop or preop enemas or any other prep? What were the postoperative pain meds and other pain management like? Since you by definition have to pass a normal physiologicc mass/fluid through that orifice every few hours, how does he/she suggest you do it without immense pain during healing?
Any experiences would be appreciated. Thanks,
Eric
